All students will depart @ 3:15pm form LGHS on Wednesdays. Procedures for athletic events will be followed. Students must ride LGHS transportation to and from Merced College.  Students will only be allowed to be signed out by parent/guardian with prior note approved by LGHS Administrator.

CNA Class Description: The course provides clinical instruction and practice of basic nursing skills required of nursing assistants employed in skilled nursing facilities and extended care facilities. The course emphasizes care of the older adult client, assistance with the activities of daily living, bathing, dressing, exercise movement, eating, eliminating safety measures, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and rehabilitation techniques. Meets State Department of Health Services requirements for eligibility to take the Nursing Assistant Certification examination

Program Learning Outcomes

1. Evaluate the responsibilities of a nursing assistant

2. Distinguish safety hazards in described simulated clinical situations

3. Explain the need for good hand washing techniques

4. Choose good body mechanics used by self and others

5. Plan techniques needed to assist clients with activities of daily living

6. Plan techniques needed to assist clients with rehabilitation procedures
